Validation & Verification Of The Model

Each block in the model (Reed-Solomon coding, Convolutional Interleaving, Randomization, etc.) have been tested and verified to see that they perform the tasks they are supposed to perform. Simple simulations, where the simulations could be predicted, were used with each block and also with all blocks together.Burst noise with deterministic characteristics were added to a known signal to verify that the most important blocks, the Reed-Solomon block and the Convolutional Interleaving block, decreased the BER as one would expect. The QAM- and QPSK-blocks have already been verified by Mathworks Inc. as the QAM- and QPSK-blocks are a part of their Communications Toolbox.

The results from the simulation have also been evaluated by knowledgeable persons and been compared with results taken from experimental studies made on similar systems. [8] [9]
